Charter boats leave Aberystwyth harbour for the sea enthusiast.  You can fish for mackerel then onto the causeway trolling for bass and off to Patches for black bream. Flounder, dabs, bull huss, dogfish, pollack, wrasse and whiting are around as well as tope in a variety of spots.

Beaches are plentiful.  Ynyslas and Borth are great for bass, dabs, turbot, dogfish and flounder while Clarach has dogfish and bass off the rocks. There is lure fishing off Constitution Hill for the bass.  North Beach, South Beach and Tan-y-Bwlch are great beachcasting venues for the long caster, the float fisher can find bass off the rocks and the Stone Jetty has live prawn caught in the plentiful rock pools.

Aberystwyth Angling Association provides venues for the avid game angler with permits available for 9 lakes, a reservoir and access to two rivers: the Rheidol and the lower reaches of the Ystwyth. There is brown and rainbow trout in most lakes and brown trout, sea trout and salmon abound in the rivers during the season.  Llanilar Angling Association provides permits for the Ystwyth for migratory sea trout and salmon as well as a head of resident brown trout.  Tregaron Angling Association permits give access to the famous Teifi pools as well as local Teifi River marks near Tregaron. Permits for all venues are available from GB Fishing Angling Centre. Fron Farm, Clywedog, Dinas Reservoir, Nant-y-Moch, Nine Oaks and Cribyn are great venues for brown and rainbow trout but are mainly privately owned with permits available on site. Clywedog permits are available from the newsagents in Llanidloes and the petrol station in Ponterwyd offers permits for Dinas Reservoir.

Carp and coarse anglers can fish at various venues including the platinum Teglan Fishery near Aberaeron. Near Aberystwyth are the Capel Bangor Golf Course & Tair Lyn Fisheries and further afield you can find Fron Farm, Nine Oaks, Cribyn, Llanarth, Rhydlewis, New Bethlehem, Springwater Lakes and the famous Celtic Lakes where sturgeon are on the fishing menu.

To the rear of the hotel is a fishing and tackle shop: GB Fishing Angling Centre.
